Three important things:

1. Math tasks will be posted Monday mornings at 8:15.  Math office hours will be Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 am until 9:45 am.

2. The tasks will include a Nearpod and Quizizz to be completed each week.

3. Students should have parent or guardian permission before participating in Zoom calls or other virtual meetings.  For safety and identification purposes, students need to put their name when they sign in.

The Details:
(This is a copy of what was emailed to you on April 14, 2020 and explains the updates for classwork given AFTER Spring Break).

Before I begin, I want to reiterate that the number one most important thing during this time is the physical, emotional, and mental health of your family.    I know there is a lot of information coming your way so I'll try to keep this simple.

  • Beginning on Monday April 20th a new math link will be emailed and texted once per week at 8:15 Monday morning (our assigned math block)
    • I know many of you are looking for more than one math activity per week.  There will be one main task that is consistent across the entire grade level, but I will also include other enrichment tasks on Google Classroom to help with your boredom and to keep your brain active!  Again, work on these as it fits with your situation and schedule.  Please do not feel pressured.
    • These activities can be completed any time it is convenient
    • All tasks will also be posted on the class website.
  • Beginning Monday April 20th I will be available on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:00 am until 9:45 for "office hours"
    • The Monday morning email will include a link to two virtual meetings
    • The idea is for students to join and ask questions and check in.  I'm also happy to just see your faces, hear a joke, and know how you're doing.
    • Our math coach Ms. Bye will be joining us during those meetings
    • I will also be actively available via email at that time to answer questions and address concerns
  • I will be updating Prodigy weekly to reflect our current review topic whenever possible.  Playing even 20 minutes per day is a great way to keep math concepts fresh.
  • New chapters from Sideways Stories from Wayside Schools will continue to be posted each weekday in Google Classroom.  I hope some of you are enjoying!
  • All students have the option to work to raise their grade for this school year.
    • Contact me via email for more specific information.

Students, you should be checking your school email at least once per day if possible.  Just Google "Office 365" and log-in with your school information.  Not all parent emails on record are correct and this is the best way to ensure you're getting updates.

Please do not let these "assignments" (or any others) become more important than they actually are.  If school work is getting overwhelming take a break, but continue to read and write daily.  Maybe include a little bit of Prodigy play time to review those math skills.  The number one priority is to take care of you!

If you're still reading, wow and thank you.  Because the schedule update is brand new there will not be a virtual meeting for office hours today, but I will be constantly and instantly available via email from 9:00 until 9:45.  I will continue to monitor my email throughout the day.  The math assignment for today is to work on the tasks already posted in Google Classroom.

I love you all, think of you often, and hope very much that you're doing well. Please let me know if I can help you in any way, math or otherwise.

Love,

Ms. Budd-Gaspar
