Metz Middle School Qualifier
Metz Middle School

Manassas, Va 20110

It's that time again, tournament time!!! This weekend, January 18th, our robotics teams will compete in the Metz Middle School Qualifier. The coaches are super pumped and cannot wait to see what our teams do this time! The following are some reminders and information for the day.

- We are still waiting for a few permission slips. Please make sure to have your student return the slips no later than Friday, January 17th. We cannot allow your student to travel or compete with their team without the permission slips.
- The tournament will stream in real time on If you cannot be at the tournament in person we highly suggest checking them out online.
- Metz's robotics teams are providing meals, snacks, and drinks as a fundraiser for their robotics program. We recommend buying your lunch at the tournament to help support them. $5 will get you two slices of pizza, chips, and a drink.
-All robotics members are expected to wear their new robotics t-shits.
- The bus will depart Fred Lynn promptly at 7:15 am. Please be on time as we have to travel to Manassas this time.
- The bus will return in the afternoon dependent on how the teams do throughout the day. If none of our teams qualify to move on the bus will be back to Fred Lynn by 4:30 pm. If we have teams qualify to move on, the return time will be later. Keep your phones handy and be looking for a message from your student and/or one of the coaches.
- Regardless of the time the buses return, please be on time to pick up your student.
We are so excited to compete again and thoroughly enjoyed all of the parent support at our last tournament. Please come out and support your student again and the rest of the robotics teams.

Dec 4

Here are a few important reminders as we get closer to Battle.
  1. We need your child's consent form and permission slip as soon as possible.
  2. Let us know if your child will be buying pizza (cheese or pepperoni) at the tournament or will they be bringing their lunch. We can pre-order pizza if we know, at a cheaper rate.
  3. We are encouraging your child to attend Robotics on  Dec. 5th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th. We have so much to do before the Battle of the Bridge Tournament on Dec. 14th.
  4. On Dec 14th. Please have your child arrive at Fred Lynn on time at,  7:00 am.
  5. If your child does not bring a Robotics shirt home (we have had problems printing team shirts), please have them wear their swarm shirt.
  6. Unfortunately, I will  not be able to attend the tournament. I must attend my grandmothers funeral in Texas. Mrs. Lowery, Mr. Seeman and Coach Alvieri will be there.  Remember that if we do not qualify for the final rounds we will return to FLMS at 4:15. If we do qualify, we may be back as late as 6:30. Expect a text from one of the coaches to let you know when. Most likely, since this is our first tournament, we will be back by 4:15.
